How Walk for Wheelchairs got started and how to contact us

About two months ago, David Roberts, the youth minister for San Diego Family Church, and Demian Dunkley, a talented video maker who had been involved in many international Service for Peace projects, were trying to think of a good project to get a Service for Peace chapter going here in the San Diego area. We were looking for something that would get the young people we already knew connected with youth from many different backgrounds and circumstances, all centering on the concept of service to others in the community and around the world.

David, who had recently visited Israel as part of the Middle East Peace Initiative project, had attended a presentation where Miko and Nader gave a talk about Wheelchairs to the Holy Land, and had really wanted to do something to help that effort. Suddenly the idea for a Walk for Wheelchairs came. What a great way for healthy kids here in America to bring money and attention to this great project to bring mobility and good will to injured kids in the Middle East, who were caught in the crossfire of this terrible conflict through no fault of their own.

So they met with Miko and Nader, and they liked the idea too, and that is how Walk for Wheelchairs got started.
